Isn't the purpose of this feature to convert the tablet into an Echo Show? I found a workaround to keep it always on (enable developer mode and set the screen to always on), but I'm wondering if this will damage my tablet?

Came with 5.6.0.1 and last night I rooted using Kingoroot and installed Play Store, etc. Thought I had disabled OTA updates but this morning I saw that it had added the new show mode feature. It will now boot into show mode and will not show the home screen when I use the circle button.
